Talk: Geschlechtsspezifische Vorurteile und Diskriminierung durch Künstliche Intelligenz

Viele wichtige Entscheidungen in der Gesellschaft werden heute durch Algorithmen getroffen. Bei keinem dieser Algorithmen kennen wir Einzelheiten über ihren Entscheidungsfindungsprozess. Wer hat diese Algorithmen mit welcher Absicht oder zu welchem Zweck programmiert und trainiert? Bei der Entwicklung von KI-Algorithmen müssen potenzielle ethische Risiken und Probleme identifiziert werden, um sicherzustellen, dass die Schwächsten in der Gesellschaft vor Schaden bewahrt werden. Wir wollen einen genaueren Blick darauf werfen, ob es unerwünschte Folgen des gegenwärtigen Prozesses gibt.

Christine Bauer is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University (NL). Her research activities center on intelligent systems with the vision to benefit humans and society. Currently, she focuses on music recommender systems and fairness. She holds a Doctoral degree in Social and Economic Sciences, a Master degree in Business Informatics, and a Diploma degree in International Business Administration. Furthermore, she pursued studies in jazz saxophone. She has authored more than 90 publications. Before starting her academic career, she worked at Austria’s collecting society AKM.


Dr. rer. nat. Stephan Baumann (Senior Researcher, Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz GmbH, GER)

Stephan Baumann, Music and AI researcher, works in Berlin and Kaiserslautern at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence. He wrote his dissertation on Artificial Listening Systems at DFKI and IRCAM / Paris. In parallel, he founded the sonicson GmbH in 2001, a spinoff for music recommendation machines. From 2009-2018 he was a guest lecturer at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg for the main topic of recommendation systems. His current research interests are in the field of AI & creativity, deep learning.

Amélie Heldt (Junior Researcher, Leibniz-Institut für Medienforschung, Hans-Bredow-Institut, GER)

Amélie Heldt is a lawyer and researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research (Hans Bredow Institute) in the research programme "Transformation of Public Communication". Her research interests include platform regulation, social media governance, the effects of new technologies on opinion formation and public discourse, and the exercise of fundamental rights in the context of algorithmic decisions and autonomous systems.

For the last 25 years Ronny Krieger has worked in almost all areas of the music business as an artist, DJ and producer, PR agent and artist management. Ronny worked in distribution, in a record store and managed a download shop (VP & CPO of Beatport). Since 2010 he is a consultant for FatDrop, DJBroadcast, Shutterstock, Digital Imported, Skoove, LANDR, Native Instruments, Patreon, MOD Devices and others. In addition to his VUT honorary position, he has recently become a member of the "Digitalization and KI" expert committee of the German Cultural Council.
