Session: Is Social Media Killing The Radio Star?

How to build an artist profile in the age of social media oversharing

Do., 19. September 2019, 10 – 11 Uhr @ Angie's Nightclub

Language: Englisch

A successful musician's career without permanent social media visibility is hard to imagine today. What counts is the ubiquitous presence on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and the likes. More and more intrepid, artists let us look into their private lives, stage themselves in order to be close to the fan. Those who are not prepared to do so must face with losses among fans and income. A stress factor for artists that shouldn’t be underestimated, partly with negative health consequences. But without fans no fame, no recognition, no myth and no idol?

Does the ubiquitous presence of artists on social media channels damage their image? And thus do they lose their uniqueness? Is the myth dying out or does the proximity of the artist next door create completely new idols? Who controls what is to be shown and what is not?
